Between its Hudson River views, historic charm, and big open property, Sparrow House is a gem of a weekend escape. The fact that it’s only 10 minutes from Storm King just about seals the deal.
The aged Gothic Victorian home was built in 1859. Described by the host as “mysterious, romantic, and full of character”, it features two acres of waterfront property along the Hudson.
Sparrow House’s historic charm is balanced by its host Sarah’s eye for decor. Antiques, plants, and quirky decorations follow you throughout the home’s themed rooms.
The three-story home was built – and renovated – for large groups of friends and families. Its spacious rooms and outdoor space have plenty of room to roam.
The outdoor space and set-up is nothing short of dreamy – views, fire pit, and hammock included. At night, take it inside to the “Screening Room” and watch movies on the projector.
The home carries with it a piece of the town’s history: Captain Leonard P. Clark, a local shipbuilder, built the house and many of the surrounding neighbors.
Today, it serves as both a weekend rental and a creative retreat for writers and other artists. The host, Sarah, hosts regular workshops and networking events for creatives.
