If the sound of a quiet & peaceful escape to an idyllic, riverside town warms your soul to its core, then Moonriver Inn is where you need to be. To stay there is to experience the slow-paced, small-town charm of Narrowsburg, NY – a lesser-known pocket of the Catskills along the Delaware River with a growing collection of interesting local businesses.
Renovated from an 1860s-era farmhouse, Moonriver Inn holds just four rooms (each complete with aged character, modern comfort, and a record player), as well as a backyard with river views. The Sunrise Room – with its an antique fainting couch and day-lit soaking tub just feet from the bed – seems to be the winner if you’re trying to pamper yourself.
The inn is the perfect home base for exploring Narrowsburg and the abundant nature of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River area (part of the National Park system). Restaurants (The Heron, The Laundrette), coffee (The Tusten Cup), shops (One Grand Books), and all the water activities along the Delaware River are a short walk away. You can even venture across the bridge into Pennsylvania just for kicks.
Moonriver Inn’s early reviews are all glowing, highlighting the hospitality of owner Celeste Evans and the utter peacefulness of the stay. One guest summed it up best, proclaiming the inn to be “a true little treasure along the Delaware”.
