Albergo Allegria – Italian for the “Inn of Happiness” – is a contender for the most beloved breakfast spot in the Catskills. The 21-room inn and breakfast restaurant serves up travel-worthy frittatas and warm hospitality within a charming, renovated building from the late 1800s.
The boutique property considers its approach to the first meal of the day to be an art. Reviews from past guests confirm that statement. As seen on Yelp: “the breakfast is truly amazing”; “a killer breakfast, and I mean killer”; “The BREAKFAST!!!! OMG!!!”.
Executive chef and owner Marianna Leman is particularly known for her frittatas and omelets, though it’s hard to find a bad option on the daily changing menu. Guests are also treated to full access to the inn’s pantry – stocked with fresh baked cookies, 40 selections of tea, and more.
Though, Albergo Allegria’s renowned breakfast isn’t the only reason that it’s received near-perfect ratings and a place on TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Small Hotels in the USA (2018). It also exudes the classic hospitality and charm that you’d expect from an inn that’s been in business for four decades. (Marianna even responds personally to each glowing review.)
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
A two-night minimum is typical on weekends. The inn has room options for 2 to 4 people.
While breakfast is not included in room rates, the menu is affordable – especially given the plentiful portions. Albergo Allegria’s breakfast is also open to the public every day except Thursdays.
The inn is a 5-minute drive from Windham Mountain for skiing and snowboarding.
